Chinese New Year Closures

The first day of the 2018 Chinese New Year is Friday, February 16. Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is one of China’s most important traditional festivals and involves celebrations with family, and a week of official public holiday that may impact shipments. Many factories and businesses in Asia will shut down, including the FedEx Trade Networks offices listed below. Countries such as Japan and Korea may also feel the impact of this holiday.

Chinese New Year holiday closure schedule for FedEx Trade Networks Asia offices:

Thursday, February 15, 2018 – Wednesday, February 21, 2018

Friday, February 16, 2018 – Saturday, February 17, 2018

Wednesday, February 14, 2018 – Tuesday, February 20, 2018

Friday, February 16, 2018 – Sunday, February 18, 2018

Traffic is often very congested just before the holiday. Shippers with freight inbound to China should plan ahead and schedule their shipments carefully around this holiday. Filling containers and preparing customs declaration documents well in advance of the holiday are advisable steps to take. In China and its mainland ports, the celebrations are also expected to affect port operations in terms of loading, barging schedules and possibly product availability.

During the holiday, FedEx Trade Networks offices in Asia will have staff on duty so urgent customer issues can be addressed.

U.S. customers with an emergency during the holiday period can receive assistance by calling Customer Contact at 1.800.249.2953 or sending an email message to ftn_customercontact@ftn.fedex.com. For Canada and other countries, customers may contact local offices directly. Office contact information is located at http://ftn.fedex.com/us/locations/.
