New CTSA Fuel Surcharges Coming on May 1

The major shipping lines of the Canada Transpacific Stabilization Agreement (CTSA) have announced that effective May 1, 2008, the following Fuel Recovery Charges and Currency Adjustment Factor (CAF) will go into effect:

20-ft container   US$796
40-ft container  US$995
40-ft high cube container  US$1,120
45-ft container      US$1,260
W/M adjustment     US$22


The CAF will be 8 percent, and it will be applicable from all origins, including Japan and the People’s Republic of China.

CTSA members will continue to monitor fuel prices and will notify their customers if there are further adjustments.

The twelve carriers in CTSA include:

American President Lines, Ltd. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (K Line)
COSCO Container Lines, Ltd.     Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL)
Evergreen Marine Corp. (Taiwan), Ltd.   Nippon Yusen Kaisha (N.Y.K. Line)
Hanjin Shipping Co., Ltd. Orient Overseas Container Line, Inc.
Hapag-Lloyd Container Line        Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp
Hyundai Merchant Marine Co., Ltd.
