Increase in CBP user fees, effective October 1, 2018
On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced increases in user fees in the Federal Register established by the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) for Fiscal Year 2019. The fee increases are effective October 1, 2018.
Fees that will see increases (not all-inclusive):
Merchandise processing fees (MPF)
- MPF ad valorem rate of 0.3464% will not change. However, the minimum and maximum MPF amounts will change.
- Formal entry minimum MPF will change from $25.67 to $26.22.
- Formal entry maximum will change from $497.99 to $508.70.
- Informal entry minimum will change from $2.00 to $2.10.
Other fees such as commercial aircraft fees, commercial vessel arrival fees, commercial truck arrival fees, express consignment carrier/centralized hub facility fee, railroad car arrival fees, and other bulk carrier fees are increasing as well.
