Seasonal Measures in Australia for Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

The Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) released the
2019–2020 Brown Marmorated Stink Bug (BMSB) seasonal measures to aid in managing the risk of BMSB arriving in Australia during the current BMSB risk season.

BMSB seasonal measures will apply to vessels berthing, loading or transshipping cargo from target risk countries beginning September 1, 2019, and arriving in Australia on or before
May 31, 2020. The DAWR has increased the list of target risk countries from 10 to 32.

BMSB seasonal measures will also apply to certain goods shipped from or manufactured in target countries. Any goods manufactured in or shipped from a target risk country that are categorized as “target high risk” or “target risk” will be subject to mandatory treatment for BMSB risk.
