Finalization of Second Tranche of Tariffs on Chinese Products
On August 7, 2018, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released the finalized second list of imports from China that will be subject to 25 percent additional tariffs. This release is a continued response to the Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974 investigation that the USTR released in March 2018. The list contains 279 of the original 284 lines that were proposed on June 15, 2018. The additional duties go into effect on August 23, 2018.
A formal notice will be published in the Federal Register and will announce a process by which interested persons may request the exclusion of particular products covered by the tariff line subject to the additional duties.
