China National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival Are This Week
China’s National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival are being celebrated this week. The 7-day China National Day holiday, also called “Golden Week,” runs this year from October 1 to 8. This year’s celebration includes the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on October 4. To allow citizens a full week off for travel and celebrations, the Chinese government has shifted the normal work-week schedule to accommodate the holidays.
China National Day is celebrated annually on October 1 to commemorate the founding of People’s Republic of China. The Mid-Autumn Festival is the second largest festival in China after the Chinese New Year and takes its name from its mid-autumn celebration date.
