NAFTA Blanket Certificate

Are you taking full advantage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)?

The Blanket North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Certificates of Origin provided by your organization and currently on file with FedEx Trade Networks Transport & Brokerage, Inc. must be renewed annually. The NAFTA Certificate of Origin, filed on U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Form 434, must be on file prior to the importation of your merchandise to ensure preferential duty treatment under NAFTA.

Below there is a questionnaire designed specifically to assist you in completing and filing your blanket NAFTA certificate with FedEx Trade Networks. Please utilize this questionnaire when completing your NAFTA certificate in order to facilitate the filingwith FedEx Trade Network Transport & Brokerage, Inc.

For customers whose NAFTA certificates contain more than 20 items, along with your (CBP) Form 434, please provide a workable spreadsheet in this format. Keep in mind, you must add “see attached” in box 5 when a spreadsheet accompanies CBP Form 434.

You must use an approved NAFTA certificate and ensure that all information provided is complete and accurate. (Note: A CBP audit may require substantial verification of all information supplied on the certification.) If you are a subscriber of My Global Trade Data, you can utilize My Forms to create a blanket certificate online. If you are not currently a subscriber of My Global Trade Data, you may sign up, free of charge, by following the below steps:

  1. Go to the FedEx Trade Networks website at ftn.fedex.com.
  2. Click on the "Register Now" link within the Welcome box at the top left.
  3. Select the option that best applies.
  4. Complete the Request for Authorization form and click “I Accept.”

Failure to provide an updated blanket NAFTA certificate prior to its expiration date will result in the loss of free trade benefits and may require the payment of duties, taxes, and fees to CBP. Due to the high volume of NAFTA certificates processed each year, we suggest that you begin this process now to allow time to process your certificate. To renew your certificate, please complete a new blanket NAFTA Certificate of Origin and return it to us at least 30 days before your current certificate expires.

If your certificate is not renewed and received by FedEx Trade Networks at least 30 days before your current certificate's expiration, a copy of the certificate should accompany each shipment to ensure NAFTA benefit is claimed.

You must retain a copy of the NAFTA certificate in your records per CBP's recordkeeping requirements. Please send your renewed NAFTA certificate either by mail, email, fax or by shipping via FedEx to the location below:
